Vikings, TCF Stadium Tentatively Reach Deal

The Minnesota Vikings sure know their way around the word 'tenative'. Only a few days after coming to a tentative deal to determine who will pay how much for the construction of a new stadium, another deal of the tentative nature has emerged.

The Vikings and the University of Minnesota have struck a tentative deal regarding the amount of money it will cost the organization to play at TCF Bank Stadium when construction is underway.

The number of games and the price to play there are still unknown. However there are some logistical answers: there will be about 3,000 temporary seats added to the venue's endzone. This would bring the capacity to about 53,000.

The Vikings have close to 53,000 season ticket holders.

TCF Might Not Be a Vikings Possibility

The Minnesota Vikings are really, really looking for a new football stadium. However, contray to the phrase 'beggars can't be choosers,' the Vikings are being pretty picky. Through all of these stadium talks, the Vikings have been adamant that the site at Arden Hills is their No. 1 choice, though Governor Mark Dayton has other plans.

Dayton would prefer to build on the current site of the Metrodome, which means the team would need to play at TCF Bank Stadium for three years or so while the new place is being built. Not only are the Vikings opposed to the three-year timeline, but also to the lost revenues of not hosting games themselves and to the lack of potential development around the Metrodome location. The Arden Hills location offers a lot of surrounding area for potential development.

Judging by the ad campaigns the Vikings pushed towards the end of the season, the team really wants to have fan support behind them. Keeping that in mind, the Vikings have yet to directly oppose the Metrodome site because they don't want to come off as complainers by the level-headed fans of Minnesota.

Basically the Vikings don't want to be blamed for their own stadium not being built.Who will get the final word? It appears the NFL may use their power of veto to nix the Metrodome site because TCF Bank simply isn't an NFL stadium, though it is a gem. This would mean that the Arden Hills site, among the other options, would be reconsidered.

Minnesota Golden Gophers football standings 2011 season

Gophers Football Big Ten Legend Division
The Minnesota Golden Gophers football season is over for the year. Unfortunately, the Gophers 2011 football season ended in last place of the Big Ten Legends Division with a record of 3-9.

The Minnesota Gophers beat the Miami (Ohio) football team 29-23 on September 17th, the Iowa football team 22-21 on October 29 and the Illinois football team on November 26th, their last game of the season, 27-7.

TCF Bank Stadium will be closed up now for the winter, hopefully not having to be reopened until next seasons Gopher football season starts, unlike last year, where TCF Bank Stadium was reopened in order to host a NFL Minnesota Vikings football game when the Metrodome roof collapsed after a snow storm!

Can't Wait for Nebraska Cornhuskers to be TCF Bank Stadium! P.S. Is the Snow Gone Yet?

Nebraska Cornhuskers FootballWell, football season is still far away as we sit here today on March 7th. However, that doesn't take away any of the excitement as I wait patiently for the 2011-2012 Minnesota Gophers football season! As I look at the schedule next season I can't help but get excited for when the Nebraska Cornhuskers visit TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday, October 22nd. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are joining the Big Ten for the 2011-2012 after playing in the Big 12 for many seasons. I'm excited to see them in the Midwest again, as they haven't played the Minnesota Gophers since the 1980's.

Sidenote - is the snow gone yet? TCF Bank Stadium has been covered in snow all winter. It's anxiously waiting for football season!

Minnesota Vikings Using TCF Bank Stadium

TCF Bank StadiumTonight, the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears will use TCF Bank Stadium for Monday Night Football. After the HHH Metrodome roof collapsed, the Vikings will use TCF Bank Stadium for 1 game. It is a historic game for Minnesota Vikings fans. There hasn't been an outdoor Minnesota Vikings game since 1981. Rookie quarterback Joe Webb is making his first career start. Can he lead the Minnesota Vikings to a victory over the Chicago Bears? There is snow on the way, anywhere 4-8 inches of snow. The Minnesota Vikings are also celebrating the Top 50 Minnesota Vikings of all-time. Get your Minnesota Vikings tickets from Ticket King!

Thanks for a Great Season at TCF Bank Stadium Gopher Fans

Jerry KillWith the season over, I wanted to say thanks to all Minnesota Gopher fans who went out and supported the team at TCF Bank Stadium this season. Although there wasn't necessarily a ton to cheer about this season, it shows how supportive the fanbase is. The season ended on a great note when they defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes to capture the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy. Jerry Kill has been announced the new head coach of the Minnesota Gopher football program, and I for one, am really excited. Can't wait until next year!

Alcohol ban may be taken off at TCF

A bill is currently being passed through the Minnesota State Senate to take off the “all or nothing” law on selling alcohol at the TCF Bank Stadium. The U of M had earlier only wanted to sell alcohol in premium seating to cut back on the amount of drunken students roaming around the stadium section. The bill is backed by the Senate Finance Committee and now it needs to get passed through the full chamber. Since the U has roughly missed out on $1 million due to the alcohol ban, they have rethought their opinion. The U of M proposed they would give all the profits from the selling of alcohol at the TCF to athletic scholarships. There are a few raised eyebrows in the Minnesota House of Reps, so there’s no saying what will happen.

Minnesota Golden Gophers Football Tickets are coming soon

empty seats at TCF Bank Stadium
You read that right Gophers Fans! Despite the cold and snow inhabiting the Twin Cities currently, according to University of Minnesota Football Ticket sources, Golden Gophers Football Tickets for the 2010 Minnesota Gophers Football Season are going to be made available to season ticket holders soon.

I'm sure you are thinking the same thing that I am, I can't afford Gophers Season Tickets. No worries, most season ticket holders can't make it to every Gopher Game at TCF Bank Stadium, so they sell the extra tickets to secondary ticket agents who re-sale the tickets. Why bother buying now when single game tickets will be available, you ask. Because... as soon as the Golden Gophers 2010 Football Season starts, the demand for tickets goes up, if the Gophers win a game or two the demand for tickets goes up, and with each increase in demand there is a price increase in Golden Gophers Tickets. Check out the Gophers Football Tickets site for some of the Best Minnesota Golden Gophers Tickets once they are available!
