Jerry Kill Instructs Gophers to be "Uncommon"

The first season for Jerry Kill at TCF Bank was full of ups and downs. The Gophers finished 3-9 and he had a health scare along the way.

Kill said recently that he feels more comfortable going into his second season with the Gophers. He is especially  happy and excited about this year's recruiting class.

Kill went on to say in a recent interview in St. Cloud that a common theme for the Gophers this year "is to be uncommon.

To be successful, you have to be different. If we want to win, we have to be uncommon."

Gopher Spring Football Practices

Marqueis Gray is someone the Gophers will look to for leadership and execution at the quarterback position. The Gophers have found similarities between Gray and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, leading the coaching staff to visit Baylor in hopes of some tips.

Gray accounted for more than 2,400 yards last year.

Further reasons for optimism include head coach Jerry Kill. He's a good coach and has slid in with the Gophers almost seamlessly. Though the Gophers are unlikely to be the most talented team in the Big Ten, Kill will keep the Gophers competing with the best.

Spring practices went well for the Gophers!

Gophers to be at TCF again soon vs. New Mexico State

The Gophers are nearly back at TCF Bank Stadium. I can almost taste it. The Gophers open the season at the Colliseum against USC, but they'll be back at TCF Bank Stadium to face New Mexico State. The Gophers begin playing their games soon which means you should start buying your tickets as well. Ticket King offers the best prices and is the best place to go if you're looking for great deals on Gopher football tickets.

Minnesota Gophers First Football Season at TCF Bank Comes to a close

The Minnesota Golden Gophers Football Roster has one more game left to play, but last week marked the end of the inaugural season of Gopher Football at TCF Bank Stadium. Fan Response and Ticket Sales reflect that Golden Gophers Fans LOVED TCF Bank Stadium and can not wait for the 2nd season to start!

Overall the Gophers Football Team had a strong first season at TCF Bank Stadium. The Golden Gophers Football Schedule included 7 home games at TCF Bank Stadium, the won 4 of those 7... I would say that counts as TCF Bank Stadium success! Wouldn't you? With the football season over, there will be less TCF Bank Stadium and Golden Gopher Football news to report, but feel free to send in pictures and stories from this season and I will be happy to post them for the rest of the Gopher Fan Base to appreciate!

Have a great Thanksgiving Gopher Fans!

TCF Bank Stadium Tailgating Rules from the University of Minnesota Gopher Sports Website

For a great many Gopher football games, tailgating outside of the new TCF Bank Stadium is just as fun as actually going to the game (and if you are lucky enough to have Gophers Football Tickets and get to tailgate, well then you are really lucky!) With TCF Bank Stadium's alcohol rules and the parking shortage I thought I would post the University enforced rules about pre and post game tailgating... This information came directly from the Gopher Sports website and I thought you all might want to read it before heading out to TCF Bank Stadium for the next Gophers football game.

The University of Minnesota permits tailgating on football game days in designated surface parking lots, during specified hours and under other general conditions. Tailgating may begin 6 hours before game time, but no earlier than 7 am. Tailgating must end 4 hours after game time or midnight, whichever comes first. All vehicles must leave the parking lots when they close at midnight. Green space within a parking lot or within 15 feet of a designated surface parking lot may be used for tailgating by the participants assigned to that parking lot. Tailgating is NOT permitted on any other University of Minnesota property, including parking ramps and garages. These policies are intended to enhance the football game day experience, promote a safe campus environment and preserve the beauty of our campus. Please park in designated lots provided for game day parking. Illegal parking will be strictly enforced, on and off campus, and will be subject to tagging and towing at owner's expense.

Tailgating Rules:

The following items and activities are allowed in lots:
-Gas grills with a maximum propane cylinder size of 20 pounds
-Consumption of alcoholic beverages by persons of legal drinking age, and in compliance with all applicable state laws, city ordinances and University policies
-Portable outdoor furniture
-Tents and awnings that do not block adjacent parking spaces, impede drive aisles or require the use of stakes
-Portable generators

The following items and activities ARE NOT ALLOWED in lots:
-NO CHARCOAL
-Kegs, party balls, drinking game accessories and large quantity or common source containers of alcoholic beverages
-Glass containers of any kind, including bottles and cups
-Open fires fueled by charcoal, wood or other combustible materials of any kind
-Disruptive music or noise
-Couches or other large furniture items
-Promotional or marketing activities without appropriate authorization from the University
-Sale of products, food or beverages except as authorized by the University
-Occupying more than one parking space
-Saving a parking space for someone else

Tailgating Conduct

Tailgaters must:
-Respect other people and property
-Properly dispose of trash
-Cooperate with law enforcement authorities and University personnel
-Comply with all applicable University, city, state and federal rules, policies, ordinances and laws -Violation of any University of Minnesota Tailgating Rules could result in fines and loss of game tickets and tailgating Privileges.

TCF Bank Stadium brings Gopher Football back to Campus

TCF Bank Stadium is set to open in about one and a half years, and prospective University of Minnesota students couldn’t be more excited. Just as they are entering college, these students will get to experience Big Ten football as it was meant to be experienced – outside with 10,000 other crazy and screaming maroon and gold clad kids in the student section. Madison students have it and often gloat to me about how much more fun they have at their football games, but come 2009, TCF Bank Stadium will rival whatever Badger fans say they have that we don’t.

The Gophers will play one more season in the HHH Metrodome before moving into the new TCF Bank Stadium in 2009. Don’t wait to get Gopher football tickets in this exciting new stadium. The Gophers have nowhere to go but up, and tickets to Minnesota Golden Gophers football games in 2008 will hold sentimental value as they toast the Metrodome turf for one final season.

TCF Bank Stadium

Inside an empty TCF Bank Stadium
The TCF Bank Stadium will be home to the Golden Gopher Football team starting the Fall of 2009. The stadium is being built across the street from Mariucci Arena and Williams Arena, completing the perfect trifecta of Gopher sports complexes on campus. I can't wait to see my Golden Gophers take the TCF Bank Stadium field! Go Gophers!
